How did you discover your talent? What got you started?
I started shooting in high school, my sister recommended I sign up for photography class in grade 10. I don’t know if I necessarily discovered a hidden talent or anything, but I really enjoyed it and my grade reflected that. Shooting with 35mm film and getting to work in a darkroom was a great starting point for me.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Who was your biggest inspiration?
If we’re talking surf photography, then probably Jeremy Koreski. His work in the early-mid 2000’s really changed the way I viewed the world.
What makes you keep innovating and pushing your craft to new heights? What’s the intrinsic driver or motivation?
To take a better photo than I did the day before, because if I don’t someone else will.
So far, what has been your favourite highlight of your career? An achievement? A collaboration?
Getting selected to compete in the TSSF Pro Photo Showdown in 2019.
In regards to your craft, where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years?
Happy, healthy and still stoked.
Switching gears a bit… What do you think about the existing grab-and-go drink options out there? Are people ready for healthier alternatives? or will “Big Sugar” continue to dominate the landscape? (I.e. Energy Drinks, high caffeine, high sugar drinks)
I think ‘Bubly’ is one of the most popular soft drinks right now and it’s owned by Coke-a-Cola so that goes to show how the market is changing. People are way more aware of what they’re putting into their bodies nowadays and that's super important not only for our physical health but mental health as well. High sugar intake and anxiety go hand and hand apparently.
How does Wize iced tea fit into your current lifestyle? And why do you choose Wize?
I was strictly completely off sugar for about 2 or 3 years. Since then I’ve slowly re-introduced a small amount into my diet, but I have absolutely no craving for it anymore. The fact that Wize only has 1G of sugar is a big draw for me.
What are your next projects coming down the pipeline?
My first coffee table book ‘Cold Comfort’ is releasing at the end of May!
What’s your favourite flavour of Wize? When do you typically drink it?
I like lemon, it’s my go-to alternative beverage for when I’m already craving a second cup of coffee.
