How did you discover your talent? What got you started?
I started mountain biking when I was super young because it was something my dad and his friends did. All throughout school it was just sort of a hobby my friends used to do and then that progressed into us traveling to our local island races.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a kid I never really had any one particular job or career I wanted to follow until around elementary school when mountain biking started to become more mainstream and after that all I could think about was finding a way I could ride my bike all day everyday!
Who was your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration growing up and even still is Steve Smith.
What makes you keep innovating and pushing your skills to new heights? What’s the intrinsic driver or motivation?
I’d have to say my competitiveness and my own motivation to be the absolute best at whatever it is I do is what pushes me to keep pushing my skills.
So far, what has been your favourite highlight of your career? An achievement? A specific moment?
I would have to say that winning my hometown Enduro 3 years in a row would be a highlight of my career. Also being able to travel all around the world racing my bike, seeing the most amazing places and representing awesome people has been a major highlight.
In regards to your career, where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years I see myself having transitioned into more of a coaching/ leadership role for younger riders, helping out the local trail associations and trail building.
In terms of healthy habits, what are your thoughts on the current beverage options out there? (I.e. Energy Drinks, high sugar drinks etc)
I’ve tried my fair share of sports drinks and I’m always left with a major crash for a quick spike of caffeine and sugar. I think that a lot of the current energy drinks and other quick grabs are heavily sugared and don’t fit into a healthy diet for people.
How does Wize fit into your current lifestyle? And why do you choose Wize?
Wize fits into my lifestyle because i’m a super active person that needs a pick me up from time to time and Wize doesn’t leave me with a big crash afterwards.
What are the next projects coming down the pipeline?
My next projects this year are to finish school, finish up some of the sick trails i'm working on and to put out some videos and media!
What’s your favourite flavour of Wize tea? When do you typically drink it?
Right now I think my favourite flavour is probably grapefruit but it's hard to pick just one!
Thanks for the interview! Where can our audience find out more about you? (social media links etc)
